My professional profile
I graduated in Control Systems, Microprocessors and Microelectronics in 1980.
From 1980 to 1982 I worked as a Hardware engineer on Olivetti's mini- and personal-computers.
In 1982 I joined IBM, where I worked as a software engineer/developer until 2000 in the following main areas:
VM/CMS, MVS and S/390 mainframe Operating Systems and the relevant application programs.
Artificial Intelligence, Symbolic Reasoning and Knowlegde-based Systems.
Complex Dynamical Systems, Fractals, Artificial Neural Networks, Genetic Programming, Cellular Automata, Artificial Life and Deterministic Chaos.
Since 1994 I gradually shifted from mainframe computers to UNIX/Linux systems, focusing on areas such as:
Systems Administration.
Relational Databases.
Design and Development of web applications, web services, e-business and e-government systems.
Systems-integration in heterogeneous environments, ranging from UNIX/Linux to Microsoft Windows, to legacy S/390-CICS-DB2 platforms.
TCP/IP networking
Internetworking, Intranets and VPNs
Broadband and Multicasting (IP-over-DVB, i.e. DVB-S and DVB-T)
